Carrington Black,12, LHHS’s future Elon University theater student, boasts both talent and grit. She’s won multiple nominations, awards, and her senior superlative is most likely to be famous, which goes to show just how much talent Black holds.
In a recent interview, her high school theater career was discussed. It is Black’s talent and calling; here’s what she’s got to say about her career as an LHHS theater student.

- Ursula, The Little Mermaid

- Q) Have you received any nominations?
“I was nominated for the role of Ursula at the Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards! I will be competing on May 24th!!”
- Q) Have you received awards?
“I am a 2-time national qualifier at Texas Thespians for Solo Musical. I am also a 2-time All-star award winner at UIL. I am also the 2022 Wildflower Vocal Competition Winner.”
- Q) Are you college committed?
“Yes, I am committed to a school for a BFA in musical theatre! I am announcing May 1st.” (Update: Carrington is now going to Elon University in the fall!)
- Q) What are your after high school plans?
“After I graduate (college), I will be moving to NYC to hopefully work professionally.”
- Q) What has your experience being involved in Theatre been like?
“My experience in Theatre has been unbelievably amazing. If you told me 2 years ago I would be going to college for theatre I would not have believed you. But, truly, these past few years have really shown that this is what I’m meant to do and I am so excited to go to school and meet so many amazing people,” Black concluded.
