Senior Jack Hollingsed is the first student at Lake Highlands in 10 years to be awarded a golf scholarship.
“I’m very excited to be the first in a long time, and I hope that I can be an example so that we can have more people sign and play collegiate golf,” Hollingsed said.
Golf coach Jim Kratz has seen tremendous growth in Hollingsed.
“This is an exciting time, especially for the entire golf team. I am proud of him having been able to watch him grow for the last four years,” Kratz commented.
Hollingsed has played golf since he was eight years old and has been improving his abilities over the years.
“It is considered one of the strongest golf districts in the state. He qualified for the Regional tournament for the last 2 years,” his coach said, adding that he also placed 2nd at district.
Hollingsed attributes his success to his parents and coaches. He plans on majoring in business administration and management at Abilene Christian University in the fall.
