This school year LHHS welcomes a new tech theater teacher, Ms. Zaria Brownlee. In an interview, she answers questions varying from her prior experience in theater to her favorite productions.
What are your previous experiences in theater?
“I’ve been doing theatre since I was in middle school, and I haven’t stopped! I attended Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy where I did theatre from 9-12 grade. Then, I later attended Texas State University where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Theatrical Production with a minor in Business Administration.”
How do you plan to integrate into the theater program?
“I plan to integrate into the theatre program by building strong relationships with my students and fellow directors and figuring out how I can use my talents to better support them and help students get to their growth goals.”
What are you looking forward to this year?
“I am really looking forward to the children’s show and bringing in all of the Lake Highlands Elementary schools and seeing our seniors graduate.”
How has your first year at LHHS been so far?
“It’s been AMAZING! I love seeing all my kiddos perform and participate in things they are passionate about.”
Plays or musicals? What are your favorite theater productions?
“Musicals! My favorite productions are Mean Girls and The Color Purple.”
Keep up with and attend this year’s productions to support Brownlee and the rest of LHHS theater.
