The founder of the Animal Science club, Angel Marquez (12), has something special: bravery. He had the strength to take the first step at starting this club.
“I started the (Animal Science) club because I wanted to create a lasting memory for people interested in animals to participate in related activities,” he shares.
They meet every 1st and 3rd Monday after school in room H-B111. This club is open to anyone and everyone! In order to join the club, just show up and check in with the club’s secretary Audrey Norris (12).
They’re currently planning on going to the zoo to see behind the scenes, volunteering at animal shelters, and hosting an adoption fair.
Sponsoring the club is Mary Medders, Animal Science teacher.
“This is my first time to sponsor any student club or group. So far, it’s been a lot of fun. My students that are in leadership have really taken ownership of the club and it’s going to be fun to watch what all becomes of it.”
Marquez approached her last year with the idea, so she chose him to be the president.
“It’s been great to get to know him better each year. He’s got big goals for his future and I can’t wait to see him achieve them,” she said.
