In this day and age, people are always looking for the next big brands, but they don’t consider that the innovative designer behind the brand could be their own classmate. Cesar Guerra (11) who has recently started releasing his own original clothes online.
The name of Guerra’s business is Denton, inspired by a street name he saw while his brand was in its early stages. In October, the first T-shirt was released on his website, costing $40. While the business is not profitable currently, he is still working on making the business successful.
“I hope to create more pieces in the future, from here it just gets better,” Guerra stated.
Getting the word out on his clothing is crucial to Denton’s success, and he has achieved this in a couple of ways.
“I have made stickers with a QR code for the store website. I also post on social media like TikTok and Instagram,” Guerra said.
Guerra has also gotten help from his close friends to promote the clothing around campus, which has aided the brand gaining traction.
“I’ve seen his brand gain attention at school by people we know. I plan on maintaining this hype by making skits, photo shoots with the brand, and modeling new clothes he will drop,” mentioned Enrique Ayala (11), a friend of Guerra.
According to Ayala, “Cesar’s greatest strength is probably fashion. He can really make outfits out of a lot of clothes.”
Guerra gets his ideas from current fashion trends, and from there creates a piece.
“The designing process is where it starts. It isn’t easy and takes a while. I then send it to my manufacturer to get it made,” he added.
There are downsides to starting a business in high school. Keeping grades in check and maintaining a personal life become more difficult.
Guerra believes it “affects me in both good and bad ways. There’s always a lot of support. When it comes to difficult circumstances you realize it’s hard but not impossible.”
If you are looking for something new and stylish to wear, you should check out the brand’s TikTok and Instagram account, both with the handle @dentonclothing. His website, dentonclothing.com, is where you can view all of Guerra’s pieces and buy some for yourself!
