We have precisely 430 hours of freedom during our winter break this year. That’s a lot of time. With so much free time and no school work, how can we make sure we don’t waste our break?
Tackling To-Dos
Many high schoolers can feel overwhelmed by the amount of things running around in the back of their minds that they need to get done. You may be saying to yourself, “I need to reorganize my room. I need to catch up with this person. I need to read this book for school.”
Like Nike says, “Just do it.” It may require discipline to get things done over the break, but the results are always worth it, so hit your to-dos head on this break.
Have Yourself a Happy, Healthy Holiday
There is no doubt that the holiday blues exist, but we can’t let laziness prevail over us this break. A great way to spend your break is with engaging workouts. Freezing cold runs may not be everyone’s thing, but there are so many physical activities to keep us busy like going on walks, doing some light conditioning inside, or learning a new skill like jump roping or juggling.
Health isn’t always about lifting heavy weights, though. There are also so many nutritional, festive dishes you can cook up for everyone around you. Additionally, and especially as teenagers, we could all use some work on cultivating a better sleep schedule so that we are rested, energized, and ready to seize the coming day.
Family and Friend-Filled Festivities
It would surely be a wasted holiday season if we didn’t all spend it with our loved ones. That is what has marked this season of the year for centuries. Most of us don’t take advantage of the opportunity we have to hug our parents, grab a meal with a friend, and spend the holidays with our families like we should.
So, don’t let this break go to waste. Get all those lingering tasks done. Take care of your mental and physical health. And, spend these special times with dear friends and family.
