In March, the Lake Highlands softball team started a game against Macarthur that would last four and a half hours, ending with a score of 48-43, and a Lake Highlands win.
Not only did this game garner local recognition but national attention. Many notable high school sport platforms posted this game, such as Maxpreps, gaining hundreds of thousands of views.
“The Macarthur game was as crazy as the hurricane winds we had that day,” said head coach Baker.
Assistant coach Kelly said the game obviously had an impact on how they played the rest of the season.
“It taught me early in the year that the players were strong, tenacious, and never willing to give up.”
The softball team had many players with no previous experience being on varsity.
“Despite being a new team, the players are coming together and growing in skill daily,” Baker said.
