Lake Highlands has a new theater teacher, Cheryl Lowber. She is teaching acting and general drama classes.
She wanted to teach here because she heard great things about the faculty, staff, and students.
“Honestly, I thought I would really love working with the other teachers in the theatre department,” Lowber said.
Previously, she worked at a non-profit children’s theater for the past six years. Working with mostly high school students, she has directed over 25 productions.
Caddo Lindsey, theater director, said the school is fortunate to have her. Lowber is a local actor, director, and educator. She served as a UIL judge for years.
The theater department is working on “The Crucible,” and they will be producing “Seussical Kids” for the LH Children’s Show in the fall. They have an “Addams Family” musical in February and a dinner theater show in the spring.
So far, Lowber is enjoying her time here at Lake Highlands and thinks it is a great fit.
“There is so much talent in all my classes, and I can’t wait to keep working with all my students,” Lowber stated.
