A Hunt For The Best Iced Chai

A Hunt For The Best Iced Chai

For those who don’t have the delicate taste for coffee, iced chais are a sweet and refreshing backup. Here are our recommendations of where to get the best iced chai in Dallas. (Please note that we are not professional drink critics, and this is just our friendly recommendation).

White Rock Coffee: 9/10 (Emma)

Established right here in Lake Highlands, White Rock Coffee is known for their comforting atmosphere, but the hospitality isn’t all they have. They also have an iced chai that is to die for. The texture is like silk and the flavor is the perfect mix of sweet and clean. Because WRC uses a vanilla chai powder, I would say it could have a bit more spice, but overall is close to perfection. Well done, White Rock Coffee.

Starbucks: 8/10 (Amory)
Created in Seattle, WA, Starbucks specializes in their variations of lattes, frappuccinos, refreshers, and espressos. I had my first ever iced chai from Starbucks, so it would be difficult not to admire the craft of the drink. Made with the typical ingredients of Tazo Chai Tea, milk, cinnamon, cloves, and ice, there is a pretty even balance in all areas of the drink. It may be a bit too sweet for some people’s tastes, but for me, it’s just right.

Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee Company: 5/10 (Emma)

Originating in Quincy, MA, Dunkin’ is famous more for their donuts rather than their coffee, so needless to say I wasn’t expecting much when I ordered the Iced chai, and that’s exactly what I got, not much. Though the coffee wasn’t particularly bad, nothing stuck out to me.  The flavor, spice, and overall experience was quite average. Considering that it’s the most expensive out of the four I would have expected more from them.

La La Land Kind Cafe: 3/10 (Amory)
Based in Dallas, TX, La La Land now has 12 locations throughout the United States. While they’re famous for their kindness and hospitality, their iced chai isn’t worth the hype. If someone were to hand me an iced chai from La La Land and not tell me what it was, I would not know it was a chai. To me, it tasted mostly like iced water spiced with cinnamon. For anyone that wants a whole lot of spice in their chai, La La Land might be the place for you. However, it doesn’t fit my chai standards.

If you ask us where to find the best iced chai, we would send you straight to White Rock Coffee and Starbucks. Both somehow send you down memory lane even if you’ve never had them before. The strong flavor and hit of nostalgia will get you wishing it was autumn all over again; so, if you’re wanting to spend a few dollars on a nice drink, you know where to go.
