Inspired by her family’s experience with the sport, Lake Highlands Junior Kacy Corcoran officially made a commitment to the University of Tulsa to pursue a career in soccer.
With her brother being a player for the United States U-20 National Team, Corcoran dreams of following in his footsteps as a professional soccer player and potentially playing overseas along the way.
For Corcoran, who loved soccer since she was five, it’s the next big step of her life.
“I am very excited about my commitment to the University of Tulsa, and I think it is going to be a very good fit for me.”
Corcoran’s teacher and coach Katie Mellus shares how proud she is of her for the commitment.
“Throughout the whole recruiting process her goal was to find a program that will fit her style of play and the Tulsa program and staff obviously see that.”
Mellus also reflects on Corcoran as both a student and a player, stating how well she has grown as a leader in her three years with the soccer program.
“As a freshman, she played with the same heart, but as a junior she has found her voice. She has matured as a player on the field but she has also matured in how to bring others along with her in her competitiveness and drive.”
