First of all, I would like to thank my parents for all the sacrifices they have made so that I could have a better life. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
I am from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, but I was raised in Dallas, where I spent the majority of my life. It was difficult to fit in and make friends because I didn’t know English, but little by little, I learned the language from my classmates, and I gained self-confidence.
I wasn’t very talkative during my early years of high school, and I didn’t make the best decisions to try to fit in. All of that changed when I met some wonderful people who always made me feel included in everything they did. There was one person in particular who motivated me to be on the right path.
Julio, I want to thank you for helping me become the person I am today. Thanks to you, I’ve learned to not give up so easily, and that I should always have a positive mindset, even when things aren’t going well. You always encourage me to be myself. I want you to know how grateful I am to have you in my life, and that I’m excited to be high school sweethearts!
Mrs. Moore, I’ve known you since I was in elementary school. You taught me how to play the violin for the very first time and thanks to that, my love for music began to grow. Thank you for being an incredible teacher and for sharing your love for music with me.
Ms. Siemers, I’m glad that you were my teacher over these past four school years. Thank you for teaching me how to improve in the violin. I know that being a music teacher is not easy, but you’re doing an amazing job! Music is incredibly important to me, and you made my love for music grow even deeper than it already was. You reminded me that I am not alone, and that I can always count on you. It’s sad to know that I will no longer be in your class, but I’ll make sure to visit you every now and then. Thank you for these four wonderful years.
To all my friends, thank you so much for making our classes so much fun and for being by my side when I needed you. I wish you luck in your future, and I hope we stay in touch.
