To close off the spooky season, the Dallas Public Library visited our school to offer activities based on Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) while also letting students see what the public library is all about.
During the visit at lunch, representatives from DPL offered free library cards and information about their teen programs.
Visits like these are opportunities for students to learn more about a place they don’t typically consider.
“If they do hear about the library, they think of the place they went to story time when they were little. We need to establish a presence in their minds so they actually consider us and stop in,” commented Library Manager Juli Gonzalez.
Public libraries can be a very versatile location for students, and lucky for us there is one right down the street from our school.
If you missed the visit on Oct. 30, don’t worry! The public library plans to stop by LHHS every month during lunch.
“It was wonderful to see everyone excited and eager to discover all that the Dallas Public Library has to offer,” shared LHHS librarian Gabrielle Brown, “Partnerships like this strengthen our community!”
