Lake Highlands has a new conductor, Abigail Reiger. They are the new assistant band director and acts as the primary teacher for the concert band.
Reiger wanted to be a band director because they fell in love with music and preferred teaching it better than performing it. They like seeing the hard work and improvements of their high school students.
Reiger was previously at Princeton High School before moving to Lake Highlands.
“Working at Lake Highland HS is going great. The community is very supportive and involved and I love my coworkers.”
Aaron Singleton, the head band director said even though they are only in their second year of teaching, they possess many characteristics of a veteran teacher.
Rieger has done great work with the third band, marching band and coordinating Varsity Revue, he said.
“Our new team member … is phenomenal,” Singleton said. “Their ideas and insight have helped improve the band greatly!”
