At LHHS, the Japanese culture club is a new organization that helps new people learn more about the country.
Senior Aidan Castro, president of the club, started it to teach students about more than anime like Japan’s music, traditions, and history.
“It can benefit the students by giving them more knowledge,” Castro said. “As well as more people to connect with or they can find new songs, movies or hobbies.”
They meet every Thursday in L-B103 and anyone can join. At meetings, they try fun activities like eating food from Japan and learn about their values like humility.
“Japanese people are more humble and that’s an important quality to learn,” commented senior Joshua Jarencio, who is vice president of the Japanese Culture club.
Jarencio has been in the Japanese class for over three years and has wanted the students to know about the culture.
Currently, there’s around 20 members in the club. The club attended the Dallas Japanese Association Fall Festival and tried food like ramen, soba, curry rice, and matcha melon pan.
