During late January, we didn’t attend school for the entire week until Friday because of snow. It didn’t make sense to have the whole week at home but still go just one day before the weekend.
On Friday, there was a bit of ice on the roads and around homes. So in some neighborhoods it was still slippery, including mine. When I walked out of my apartment, I almost fell down going to school. A portion of the students who walk don’t have transportation to take them, so many didn’t go to school.
For those who drove, many parking spots with vehicles had ice around them, which made it difficult to get out. If people drove in the ice, it could’ve caused people to crash into one another.
During that day we didn’t do much in classes, it was frustrating knowing we had to return on a day and not do much in each class.
When this problem happens again, I hope that the district can take the whole week out if we’ve missed most of the days. Otherwise, you will just get tired and have napping students in class.
