There are numerous clubs and organizations you likely didn’t even know existed, so make sure to look through all of the ones listed for any you might consider joining.

 

Junior World Affairs Council

Meetings: Every Wednesday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Library

Junior World Affairs Council (JWAC) is a nationwide organization that connects students in grades 9-12 with opportunities to increase their global competency skills through educational programs focused on diplomatic leadership, civic engagement, problem-solving, and cultural intelligence. The nonpartisan, nonprofit World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth provides JWAC with access to expert guest speakers, leadership development workshops, educational field trips, and opportunities to explore internationally-focused career fields. The LHHS JWAC club meets weekly after school to discuss current international events, plan community service projects and guest speaker events, and create campus-wide initiatives.

MVP; Music and Video Production Club

Meetings: Typically after school before a football game

Music and Video Production Club, or MVP, works on the live broadcast of all of LHHS’ football games, plus anything audio and video production-related.

Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) is a business student organization that prepares emerging leaders in the areas of business, finance, marketing, and management.

LHHS Equity Coalition works to embrace, celebrate and advocate for the diversity of LHHS, raise awareness of injustice both on and off campus, and advocate for targeted, systemic change to make Lake Highlands a more inclusive and equitable campus community.

The AVID Leadership Team plans events, activities, and programs to build a strong community of scholars in the AVID program. They speak on panels to help recruit candidates at feeder campuses or showcase AVID at LHHS (AVID Week). They also celebrate and show appreciation to LHHS teachers, the Site Team, and AVID students.  They assist AVID teachers in decision-making on field trips, t-shirts, etc.

CenterStage!

CenterStage! is a 9th/10th grade pop group of singers. We sing with microphones and dance when we go on a holiday community tour in December and a spring community tour in May.
